Position Summary:
Work involves installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining high voltage electric power-controlling equipment and/or distribution lines. It also involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment; working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. Requires comprehensive trade knowledge of electrical principles and system operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safe work habits, comply with company safety requirements
- Experience in High Voltage underground termination/splicing
- Experience in overhead line maintenance/construction
- Proper care for material, tools and equipment
- Operates power tools such as drills, saws, pullers, tuggers, etc
- Experience with Bucket Truck/Digger Derrick operations
- Requires knowledge of process, procedures, and methods
- Requires the use of common courtesy in everyday contacts with employees, clients, and the general public
- Night/weekend work as required, with potential for extended hours as needed for emergency calls
- Work as required in varying weather climates
- The ability to travel out of town and stay overnight as required
- Class A CDL Driver’s License or the ability to obtain
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically lift up to and in excess of 75 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders and steep stairs, crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, pushing and pulling objects
- Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment
- Ability to work at elevated heights on ladders and/or scaffolds
- Specific vision abilities required
- Must be able to physically work up to ten to twelve hour days, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
- Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
