Position: Member Engagement Specialist

Location: Virginia Farm Bureau Headquarters, Richmond, VA (Hybrid role with the opportunity to work up to 2 days remote)

Status: Exempt, Full-Time

Compensation: $58,000- $64,000 annual base salary

Reports to: Director of Membership & Engagement

Relocation Eligibility: This position is not eligible for relocation assistance

Job Summary:

The Member Engagement Specialist coordinates membership recruitment, prospect development, outreach events, and engagement initiatives that support Virginia Farm Bureaus membership growth goals. The role works with county Farm Bureaus, Membership and Field Services staff, and Marketing and Communications to strengthen recruitment, improve prospect conversion, and support county-level engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of membership recruitment and engagement initiatives under the direction of the Director of Membership and Engagement.

  • Coordinate outreach to prospective members, including follow-up activities that support recruitment, retention, and member engagement goals.

  • Assist county Farm Bureaus and field staff with engagement efforts, recognition opportunities, and communications that encourage participation among members and emerging audiences.

  • Coordinate prospect identification, lead management, and membership conversion activities for department-supported recruitment campaigns, events, digital efforts, and county engagement initiatives.

  • Capture and track prospects from events, promotions, digital campaigns, and other recruitment efforts to support timely follow-up and conversion.

  • Work with Membership & Field Services staff, county Farm Bureaus, and Marketing & Communications to support prospect nurturing, follow-up communications, and conversion tracking.

  • Monitor prospect conversion activity and provide regular reporting on lead generation, engagement efforts, enrollment outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for Membership & Field Services outreach events, exhibits, fairs, conferences, and recruitment activities.

  • Coordinate event logistics, including registration, materials, displays, promotional items, staffing schedules, volunteer support, and post-event follow-up.

  • Ensure consistent branding, membership messaging, and recruitment objectives across assigned events.

  • Evaluate event participation and provide recommendations to improve future outreach and engagement efforts.

  • Work with Marketing and Communications to support member-facing recruitment and engagement campaigns.

  • Assist with the development and deployment of recruitment resources, engagement materials, outreach tools, and digital lead-generation efforts.

  • Help ensure consistent member value messaging across assigned campaigns, outreach activities, and engagement materials.

  • Assist county Farm Bureaus with implementing membership recruitment, engagement, outreach, and recognition strategies.

  • Provide tools, templates, campaign resources, and coordination support for county-level recruitment and engagement initiatives.

  • Support county participation in membership campaigns, events, and recognition programs.

  • Help identify and share successful recruitment and engagement practices across counties.

  • Maintain records related to recruitment, engagement, event, and prospect development activities.

  • Track participation, engagement, prospect generation, lead follow-up, membership conversion, and event outcomes.

  • Prepare reports and recommendations that support membership growth, outreach effectiveness, and process improvement.

  • Recommend process improvements that enhance member experience, prospect conversion, and operational efficiency.

  • Participate in committees and workgroups as requested.

  • Support special projects related to membership growth and engagement.

  • Assist other Federation departments and county Farm Bureaus in coordinating services and support that meet the needs of members.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Experience in membership organizations, customer engagement, community outreach, marketing, sales, event coordination, or related fields.

  • Experience coordinating projects, programs, events, or campaigns.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, shared workspaces, and data management or CRM systems.

  • Ability to analyze information and recommend process improvements.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Experience with membership organizations, associations, agricultural organizations, Farm Bureau programs, CRM or lead-tracking systems, recruitment campaigns, email marketing, prospect outreach, and large-scale public events.

  • Knowledge of Virginia agriculture and Farm Bureau programs preferred.
