Position: Member Relationship Specialist
Department: Member Contact Center – Member Experience Manager
Reports To: Member Relationship Team Lead
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Summary:
Under general supervision and adhering to established policies and procedures, the Member Relationship Specialist processes various member requests, including new accounts and loans, via inbound calls and occasionally digital channels. Utilizing the credit union's sales and service models, the Member Relationship Specialist aims to enhance member relationships by addressing their financial needs and delivering extraordinary service.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, has a friendly, helpful attitude, and provides extraordinary service to general membership and team members.
- Utilizes the Credit Union origination system to open and process new accounts, alternate shares, certificates of deposit, loans, and credit card applications.
- Effectively implements all requirements of the Credit Union KYM (know your member) and other regulatory requirements during account setup.
- High focus on determining the member’s needs and cross-selling appropriate services, and continually building member relationships to increase products and services per member through the digital channel.
- In support of marketing campaigns such as new member onboarding; makes outbound phone calls to contact members regarding products or services for which the member qualifies.
- Consistent with the view that Sales is Service and Service is Sales, strives to exceed the credit union's goals regarding member service and sales of all products and services offered by the credit union.
- Effectively uses the Synapsys CRM to create and manage sales, referrals, and service events for members within Service Commitment timelines.
- Responsible for assuring all necessary files are scanned correctly in Synergy.
- Performs file maintenance and account changes and provides general account information as may be required.
- Maintains equipment and supplies necessary to keep the department working efficiently.
- Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and all KFCU policies and procedures.
- Utilizes the current sales and service system to identify potential member (internal or external) service needs, which can be met through the sale of credit union products and services or adherence to the department’s policy and procedures.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be flexible and able to travel outside the home office area, if required
- Must maintain quality phone standards set forth by the Credit Union
- Travel to and work at alternate work locations may, at times, be required.
- Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
- Assumes other responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Qualifications:

Education:
- A high school education or GED.
Experience and Other Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience in a member service role, preferably within a credit union or financial services setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Ability to multitask in a high-paced, high-volume environment.
- Second language preferred.
- Must possess an outgoing personality with a helpful attitude and a well-developed sales culture attitude toward credit union services and products.
- Accuracy and attention to detail required.
- Punctuality and attendance are critical to this position.
- Satisfactory completion of new hire orientation, new accounts, and Teller/MCS I training through the HR/Training Department is required prior to performing job duties.
- Must possess and maintain good interpersonal skills with members and other employees.
- Must become familiar with all KFCU guidelines, policies and procedures, departments, and their relationship.
- Must possess the ability to remain organized and stay focused during stressful periods of high loan demand.
- Must possess an on-going ability to keep abreast of changing policies and procedures.
- Must maintain confidentiality and display dependability.
- Overtime may be required as work and circumstances require.
Interpersonal Skills:
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Computer Skills:
- Minimum one year experience working in Epysis and Opening Act preferred.
- Good typing/keyboarding skills required.
- Accuracy and attention to detail required.
- Experience with spreadsheet and word processing software required.
- Must exhibit a basic comprehension or arithmetic competency and possess basic clerical skills, including operating a PC.
