The Membership Director reporting directly to the Director of Operations, is responsible
for the growth, engagement, and overall experience of the club’s membership base. This role
combines strategic leadership, relationship building, and hands-on member management to
attract, retain, and cultivate a high-quality membership community.
Acting as the primary liaison between the club and its members, this position ensures an
exceptional, personalized experience while driving membership acquisition, retention, and
revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Growth & Acquisition
- Own and manage the full membership lifecycle: prospecting, onboarding, engagement, and
retention
- Actively network, build relationships, and generate leads through outreach, events, and
partnerships
- Review and manage membership applications, ensuring alignment with the club’s standards
and culture
- Meet or exceed membership and revenue targets through strategic planning and outreach
efforts
Member Experience & Engagement
- Deliver a high-touch, personalized member experience with exceptional service standards
- Serve as the main point of contact for members, addressing needs, concerns, and feedback
- Develop initiatives, events, and programs that increase engagement and satisfaction
- Proactively identify and retain at-risk members to minimize churn and strengthen loyalty
Community Relationship Building
- Build and maintain relationships with high-value individuals, businesses, and community
partners
- Act as a brand ambassador, representing the club in the local market
- Foster a strong, vibrant, and aligned membership community
Leadership Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop membership/reception team members and collaborate across
departments
- Provide clear goals, accountability, and ongoing feedback to ensure team success
- Work closely with operations, events, and leadership teams to deliver a seamless member
experience
Strategy, Operations & Performance
- Develop and execute membership strategies and action plans to drive growth
- Track and analyze key metrics such as acquisition, retention, engagement, and revenue
- Use data and member feedback to continuously improve programs and services
- Ensure smooth daily operations and uphold company standards and core values
Core Skills Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of leadership or membership/club management experience
- Strong networking, sales, and relationship-building abilities
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working with CRM systems and managing member data
- Professional presence with confidence engaging high-level clientele
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, extended service hours and holidays as business
demands require.
