D1 Training Toledo is looking for a highly motivated, results-driven Membership Sales & Business Development Manager to help accelerate growth and expand our impact throughout Northwest Ohio.


This is not a traditional front desk position. This is a sales leadership role for someone who thrives on building relationships, generating leads, closing memberships, creating community partnerships, and helping athletes and adults achieve their goals.

Position Overview

The Membership Sales & Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving membership growth, improving member retention, building community partnerships, and helping create an exceptional D1 experience.


This individual will drive the sales process from lead generation through enrollment while supporting daily gym operations and member engagement initiatives.


The ideal candidate is highly organized, competitive, outgoing, and comfortable working toward aggressive performance goals.


This role is perfect for someone who wants to build a career in fitness business leadership while making a meaningful impact in the community.

Primary Responsibilities

Membership Sales & Lead Conversion

• Manage incoming leads from website inquiries, social media, referrals, walk-ins, events, and outreach campaigns
• Conduct facility tours and consultations
• Present membership options and recommend programs based on individual goals
• Consistently achieve and exceed monthly sales goals
• Follow up with prospects through phone calls, text messaging, email, and CRM systems
• Maintain an organized sales pipeline with consistent lead nurturing
• Convert trials, assessments, and guest visits into memberships
• Create urgency and confidently close sales opportunities

Community Outreach & Business Development

• Build relationships with schools, youth sports organizations, athletic directors, coaches, businesses, and community leaders
• Develop strategic partnerships that generate new memberships
• Represent D1 Training at community events, sports tournaments, and networking opportunities
• Create referral programs and member ambassador initiatives
• Generate corporate wellness and team training opportunities
• Actively identify new growth opportunities throughout the Toledo market

Member Retention & Customer Experience

• Ensure every prospective and current member receives a first-class experience
• Conduct membership reviews and progress check-ins
• Build strong relationships with families, athletes, and adult members
• Help improve retention through communication and engagement initiatives
• Resolve concerns quickly and professionally
• Support implementation of member appreciation events and special promotions

Operational Support

• Assist with daily facility operations
• Manage membership setup and account maintenance
• Process payments and update membership information
• Support front desk operations when necessary
• Maintain accurate sales reporting and KPI tracking
• Collaborate with coaches and leadership to maximize member success

Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of proven sales experience
• Strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to confidently sell premium services
• Self-motivated and highly competitive
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills
• Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends

Preferred

• Fitness industry experience
• Membership sales experience
• Retail sales experience
• Business development experience
• CRM experience
• Sports, coaching, or athletic background
