Membership Sales Specialist

With more than 125 years of trusted service, AAA has built a reputation for reliability, advocacy, and value for its members. We are seeking an energetic Membership Sales Specialist to serve as a frontline, outside sales representative focused on driving new consumer memberships through direct, face-to-face engagement, with a primary emphasis on trade shows, expos, and large-scale promotional events.  This role is focused on event-based, pop-up, retail partner, and community activation work.   This role is ideal for a high-energy sales professional who thrives in fast-paced, public environments and enjoys engaging prospective members on the spot.  The position is hybrid with at least one day per week in a AAA Branch.

Remote Work Capable

  • This is a hybrid position that requires employees to report to a designated branch location at least once a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell memberships and related services at community events, retail partner sites, festivals, fairs, and pop-up locations

  • Engage consumers one-on-one using a confident, friendly, and persuasive sales approach

  • Explain membership benefits, pricing, and value propositions to drive immediate enrollments

  • Serve as a brand ambassador while representing the organization in high-traffic public environments

  • Set up, operate, and break down promotional booths and displays at off-site events

  • Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals

  • Use consultative and needs-based selling techniques to close individual transactions

  • Generate cross-sell leads for additional products and services

  • Accurately document sales, leads, and customer interactions using company systems

  • Participate in local marketing and awareness efforts through community outreach

  • Build rapport and long-term relationships to support renewals, referrals, and brand loyalty

  • Work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event needs

  • Collaborate with internal teams to support promotions, campaigns, and event execution

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong outside and face-to-face consumer sales skills

  • High-energy, outgoing personality comfortable approaching the public

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, goal-driven environments

  • Strong objection-handling and closing abilities

  • Ability to work independently in off-site and public settings

  • Customer-focused mindset with a consultative sales approach

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors when required

Required Qualifications

  • Willing to travel within state and out of state

  • 1–3 years of experience in retail, consumer, or event-based sales preferred

  • Experience in membership, subscription, wireless, or brand sales a plus

  • Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Provide proof of automobile liability insurance at time of hire.

  • Reliable transportation required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Property & Casualty / Personal Lines after your start date through our paid training program

  • Comfort using tablets, mobile devices, or point-of-sale systems

Preferred Experience

  • Sales experience similar to wireless retail (e.g., T-Mobile), warehouse retail (e.g., Costco), or brand ambassador roles

  • Commission-based or quota-driven sales environments

  • Experience working community events, pop-up sales, or promotional activations

Work Environment

This position is primarily based off-site at community events, partner locations, and public venues. The role requires frequent interaction with customers in high-visibility environments and a flexible schedule based on event availability.

Our sales agents start at an hourly rate of $24.04. After completion of the training program, our full-time sales agents successfully meeting sales goals earn on average between $57,330 - $70,000 annually. Commissioned opportunities are uncapped when exceeding sales goals.
