Job Description

The University of Indianapolis is seeking a dedicated and motivated Graduate Assistant Coach to support the daily operations of its intercollegiate athletics program. This position assists the Head Coach with all aspects of team management, including coaching, recruiting, and administrative responsibilities, while pursuing a graduate degree at UIndy. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to NCAA Division II values. This role offers hands-on coaching experience while contributing to the growth and development of student-athletes both academically and athletically.
 

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
Experience as a student-athlete and/or in a coaching or teaching capacity
Demonstrated knowledge of sport-specific fundamentals, strategy, and training techniques
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required
Acceptance into a UIndy graduate program required
Skills & Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage time effectively while balancing coaching and academic responsibilities
Willingness to learn NCAA rules and compliance procedures
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license
Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as required
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain

  • Assist with coaching at practices, competitions, and training sessions
  • Support recruiting efforts through outreach, campus visits, and evaluations
  • Help monitor academic progress and overall well-being of student-athletes
  • Uphold and model NCAA Division II compliance standards and sportsmanship
  • Represent the program and university in a professional and ethical manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or athletic department leadership
  • Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
  • Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
  • Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
