Job Responsibilities

This is a part or full-time, on-site or hybrid 1099 Counselor role based in Vandalia, OH. The Counselor will provide individual and, when appropriate, family or group counseling, using evidence-informed therapeutic approaches tailored to client needs. Responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, and monitoring client progress. The role involves collaborating with other providers or community resources as needed, adhering to ethical and legal standards, and participating in case consultations or team meetings. The Counselor will also support a welcoming environment for clients, uphold confidentiality, and periodically engage in professional development activities.

Qualifications

Relevant counseling education and licensure (e.g., LPC, LPCC, LISW, LMFT, or equivalent, as applicable in Ohio) with training in mental health assessment and treatment.
Demonstrated skills in individual and family counseling, including use of evidence-informed modalities such as CBT, solution-focused, or person-centered approaches.
Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills to build therapeutic rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation, manage caseloads effectively, and use electronic health record systems or practice management software.
Knowledge of professional ethics, HIPAA and confidentiality requirements, and relevant state regulations for counseling practice.
Commitment to inclusivity, cultural humility, and providing non-discriminatory services to clients of all identities and backgrounds.
Capability to work independently while collaborating with colleagues, community resources, and other care providers when appropriate.
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field preferred; supervised experience in clinical or community mental health settings is needed.
