Mental Health SitterEmployer: ACI FederalWork Location: Lower Buckeye Jail (LBJ) – Mental Health Unit (MHU)Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per weekCommitment: Minimum 13 weeksOpenings: 1 Day Shift & 1 Night ShiftPosition OverviewACI Federal is seeking dependable, attentive, and safety-focused Mental Health Sitters to support healthcare operations at the Lower Buckeye Jail (LBJ) Mental Health Unit (MHU).The Mental Health Sitter provides close observation and monitoring of patients who may be at risk of self-harm or harm to others, including patients on suicide watch or in therapeutic restraints. This role requires strong observation skills, sustained attention, accurate documentation, and the ability to promptly communicate patient activity or changes to licensed nursing staff.This position is assigned specifically to the LBJ Mental Health Unit and does not require floating to other jail facilities.Available Openings1 Day Shift Opening1 Night Shift OpeningMust commit to three (3) 12-hour shifts per weekMinimum 13-week commitmentAssignment at Lower Buckeye Jail – Mental Health UnitNo floating to other jail facilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesClosely monitor patients on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or otherwise identified as being at risk of self-harm or danger to others.Perform continuous visual and/or video monitoring as assigned.Maintain constant awareness of patient behavior, activity, and surroundings.Observe and promptly report changes in patient behavior or activity to the licensed nurse.Accurately document patient observations and activity in the appropriate patient records or chart.Complete all required documentation legibly, accurately, and in a timely manner.Immediately communicate safety concerns or significant changes to the medical personnel responsible for the unit.Follow the directions and instructions of licensed medical personnel.Maintain a safe, professional, and respectful environment for patients.Follow all applicable facility, unit, and patient-monitoring procedures.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Minimum six (6) months of experience performing clerical or support services in a medical setting.Experience observing patients and/or monitoring multiple screens or monitors.Strong attention to detail and ability to remain alert throughout extended shifts.Ability to recognize and promptly report changes in patient behavior or activity.Ability to accurately document observations and patient activity.Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with licensed nursing and medical personnel.Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a structured correctional healthcare environment.Supporting Documentation / Additional QualificationsCandidates may be required to provide documentation verifying their educational background and relevant medical clerical or support experience.Position RequirementsThis position requires a minimum 13-week commitment and availability to work three 12-hour shifts per week.The Mental Health Sitter will work exclusively within the Lower Buckeye Jail Mental Health Unit and will not float to other jail facilities.Join ACI FederalIf you are dependable, observant, and committed to patient safety, we invite you to apply for the Mental Health Sitter position with ACI Federal.Apply today for the available Day or Night Shift opening.
