POSITION SUMMARY AND PURPOSE: The Mental Health Navigator will collaborate with the Marathon County School-Based Counseling Consortium and community agencies to develop and implement a mental health services referral pathway to ensure that school-aged youth who need services can receive them.
This position will provide resources to support all students following a crisis situation and students in alternate educational settings. The Mental Health Navigator will work closely with school staff, community partners, parents, and students to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
Specific duties will also include:
Marathon County School-Based Counseling Consortium - WSD Representative
Develop and implement a mental health services referral pathway to ensure that school-aged youth who need services can receive them
Renew, create, and coordinate MOUs between community mental health providers and the District.
Work closely with school staff, community partners, parents/guardians, and students to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
Identify and implement community outreach and other engagement strategies
Identify and develop partnerships with available mental health resources within the community for use by school-aged youth and their families
Alternative Placement and Pre-Expulsion support
Building level student support for high needs students or after a crisis event
Provide resources to families, staff, and students after a tragic event
Raise Your Voice Club participation and school events
"Child find" and student support awareness - PS collaboration
Work closely with school staff, community partners, parents/guardians, and students to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding homelessness
Collaborate with the building pupil service team to create selective and extensive support for students experiencing mental health crises
Provide trauma-sensitive care and approach training opportunities to the WSD faculty and staff.
Share WPD Handle with Care messages with pupil service staff
Co-Chair (with the Coordinator of Pupil Services) the WSD Mental Health Committee
Experience Requirements - Three to five years of experience working in a school environment and/or community agency within the mental health field.
Education: BA in Human Services and MA in Pupil Services or Mental Health preferred
