Signet Health, a national behavioral health management company, is seeking compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to support the Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit and Emergency Department Behavioral Health Services at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Mental Health Technician plays a vital role in providing direct patient care, monitoring patients’ physical and emotional well-being, and supporting the daily operations of the behavioral health program.
Available Shifts
We are currently hiring for the following positions:
- Full-time, Day Shift – 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., including every other weekend (36 hours per week)
- Full-time, Night Shift – 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including every other weekend (36 hours per week)
- PRN/Per Diem – Day or night shift availability
Responsibilities & Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in maintaining accurate medical records and documentation.
- Monitor patient safety, behavior, and interactions.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the behavioral health program.
- Assist with patient data collection and observation reporting.
- Communicate relevant patient information to the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Utilize effective verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to provide therapeutic patient support.
- Assist with patient transportation to outside appointments, when necessary.
- Support a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a psychiatric and/or substance use treatment setting required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience preferred
- Familiarity with medical and psychiatric terminology
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to establish positive, respectful rapport with patients and families
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work weekends as scheduled
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Salary
$22.00 – $25.00 per hour
Salary commensurate with experience

The Behavioral Health Program includes a 24-bed adult inpatient unit, a Partial Hospitalization Program, and a Behavioral Health section within the Emergency Department.
