Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care for individuals receiving behavioral health and psychiatric services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The Behavioral Health Technician will assist patients with daily living activities, monitor patient safety and behavior, support therapeutic programs, and contribute to a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

  • Previous behavioral health or psychiatric care experience preferred

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), TEAM, or equivalent behavioral management certification required

  • Strong communication, observation, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and meals.

  • Monitor patient behavior, emotional status, and safety, reporting significant changes to the healthcare team.

  • Support therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities to promote patient recovery.

  • Utilize therapeutic communication and approved de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral situations.

  • Perform routine patient observations, safety rounds, and documentation in accordance with facility policies.

  • Assist with patient admissions, discharges, assessments, and orientation as directed.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and observations.

  • Provide compassionate support and education to patients and families within scope of practice.

  • Assist with clerical and administrative duties as needed.

  • Maintain compliance with safety, infection prevention, and organizational policies.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
