This position is community-based, with approximately 80% of the position working in the community. Provides both initial and ongoing psychiatric evaluation to patients. obtains complete psychiatric, substance use disorder and medical health history and assesses the extent of patient disability or disturbance. Provides psychiatric and/or substance use disorder treatment to patients. Works collaboratively with physicians, specialty clinics, and other social and community agencies, advocating for patients when appropriate and referring to the internal case manager and/or other treatment facility and/or community resource as indicated. Documents all work as dictated by regulating agencies and insurance carriers. documents information regarding patient status and progress in accordance with departmental policy and peer review standards. Completes all paperwork and on-line submission of clinical information necessary for charge reimbursement in a timely and comprehensive manner. Educates others regarding psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues and treatment. Stays abreast of current trends in field. Provides educational and consultative services to hospital personnel, students and the community.
