Responsibilities:
The Department of Psychiatry at University of Rochester invites applications for a part-time (20 hours per week) therapist position with its University Mental Health Practice (UMHP). We are seeking a qualified master's level clinician (LFMT, or LMHC) with strong clinical skills and five years of post-graduate experience preferred. The therapist will provide comprehensive mental health and/or dual diagnosis services for individuals who have a diagnosable mental illness. The therapist functions as the primary clinician and is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, therapy/counseling, and education services for patients and families. The therapist will systematically and continually assess the client's mental condition in collaboration with the patient and family.
The University Mental Health Practice (UMHP) is a faculty-led practice made up of psychologists, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and social workers, all working together to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. UMHP's mission is to provide evidence-based psychological and psychiatric services to patients seeking specialized approaches, such as individuals coping with trauma, OCD, complex mood and anxiety disorders, as well as individuals seeking mental health care with a provider in a comfortable setting and with the flexibility of a private practice model of care. The therapist is expected to provide initial psychosocial and diagnostic assessments, and evidence-based treatment for patients requiring mental health care. Independently develops sophisticated diagnostic formulations, implements evidence-based interventions, and utilizes validated measurement tools to assess treatment response. The therapist routinely collaborates with others in the healthcare team and a variety of disciplines (medicine, surgery, nursing, care management, mental health counseling) to identify high-risk patients with behavioral health and medical comorbidities, and facilitates access to other specialty psychiatric and substance use care as needed.
