    Mental Health Therapist

    Location: Myrtle Beach, SC
    Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Thursday Full Days + Friday Morning Patient Care | Friday Afternoon Administrative Time
    Employment Type: W2 Employee
    Compensation: Starting around $60,000 base salary, with opportunity to earn 35% of collections, whichever is higher

    Position Overview

    A growing outpatient neurology and psychiatry practice is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to join its Myrtle Beach, SC office. This role is designed for a therapist who wants to work in a collaborative outpatient setting with strong referral support from psychiatric providers, neurology providers, and external referral sources.

    The therapist will provide comprehensive behavioral health services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, and other non-medical interventions. Most therapy referrals come internally from psychiatric providers, with additional referrals from neurology and outside sources.

    This is an on-site position. Telehealth is a meaningful part of the broader care model, but therapists are expected to be physically present in the office to support both telehealth and in-person visits.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide outpatient therapy services for individuals, couples, and families.
    • Conduct behavioral health assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
    • Deliver counseling and other non-medical therapeutic interventions.
    • Collaborate with psychiatric providers to support individualized treatment plans.
    • Coordinate care with neurology providers and clinical leadership as needed.
    • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
    • Support improved patient functioning, treatment engagement, and continuity of care.
    • Manage a stable outpatient therapy caseload with occasional higher-acuity situations handled in partnership with the psychiatric medical team.
    • Support both internal and external referral sources.
    • Meet full-time outpatient productivity expectations.

    Patient Population

    The primary population is adult individual counseling. The practice also serves children, adolescents, couples, and families when appropriate and attempts to accommodate a broad range of referrals.

    This is an outpatient setting with a generally stable patient population. Occasional crisis or involuntary commitment concerns may arise, but those situations are handled by the psychiatric medical team on-site.

    Productivity Expectations

    Full-time therapists are expected to provide approximately 36 hours of patient-facing therapy per week.

    The typical schedule structure is:

    • Monday–Thursday: Four 1-hour therapy sessions per half day
    • Friday Morning: Patient-facing therapy sessions
    • Friday Afternoon: Administrative time

    Required Qualifications

    • Active or eligible South Carolina behavioral health license.
    • Acceptable SC licenses may include:
      • LISW-CP
      • LMSW
      • LPC
      • LPCA
      • LMFT
      • LMFTA
    • LPC, LISW-CP, or equivalent independently licensed therapist preferred.
    • Experience providing outpatient therapy services.
    • Ability to collaborate with psychiatric, medical, and clinical leadership teams.
    • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and patient communication skills.
    • Comfortable working primarily with adults, with flexibility to see children, adolescents, couples, or families as needed.
    • Ability to work on-site in Myrtle Beach, SC.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in outpatient behavioral health, psychiatry, neurology, integrated care, or a medical practice setting.
    • Experience supporting patients with depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, adjustment issues, relationship concerns, and related outpatient behavioral health needs.
    • Comfort working in a referral-driven clinical model.
    • Prior experience coordinating care with psychiatric providers or medical teams.
    • Associate or dependent licensure may be considered depending on credentialing and supervision requirements.

    Compensation Structure

    This is a W2 salaried position starting around $60,000 per year. Therapists may also earn 35% of collections, whichever amount is higher.

    Therapists are credentialed under insurance plans that are in-network with the practice.

    Interview Process

    Candidates can expect to meet with executive leadership, clinical leadership, and therapy leadership. Final candidates may also meet with the physician leadership team.
