Sewer, Water and Drain
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates pickup trucks, dump trucks, and panel trucks with a rated capacity of three (3) tons or under, passenger automobiles, sidewalk plows and lawn mowers, weed whackers and small powered hand equipment.
- Loads and unloads trucks, picks up and hauls materials, transports personnel, plows, greases, oils and cleans motor equipment.
- Dig holes, trenches, and other excavations; shoveling materials and leveling areas, loading and unloading supplies, moving furniture, cleaning litter and debris from streets, runways, parking lots, assisting in placing and holding heavy items in place, mowing grass using hand or powered equipment, trimming shrubs and lower parts of trees along sidewalks and highways, removing snow and ice using manual or small powered equipment; spreading sand on icy areas, performing laboring duties for skilled craftsmen but not as a Helper for Apprentice nor for the purpose of learning the trade.
- Use standard hand tools, i.e., shovels, picks, axes, saws, heavy wrenches, jack hammers, rollers and other small tools. Must assist in snow & ice management, shovel, spread ice melt, operate a snow blower, and sidewalk plow as assigned.
- Assist in working on repairs to pipes and other malfunctions that may occur in the Sewer/Water/Drain Department such as sewer breaks and sewer backups, and water main repairs.
- Must be willing to work overtime when needed by the department.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS.
Valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
