Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced MEP Inspector to join our construction management team and support the successful delivery of complex commercial, institutional, industrial, and public works construction projects. The MEP Inspector will be responsible for inspecting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, safety requirements, and quality standards. This position plays a critical role in monitoring construction activities, documenting progress, identifying deficiencies, and coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Visit construction sites and inspect work at various stages through project completion.
- Interpret plans, specifications, building codes, and contract documents, ensuring work is performed in accordance with approved standards.
- Assist in obtaining approved designs, permits, and utility service clearances required for construction activities.
- Monitor construction sites for compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Prepare and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when work does not meet project requirements or approved standards.
- Maintain daily inspection reports, activity logs, and detailed project documentation.
- Review and prepare progress reports to support contractor payment applications.
- Monitor contractor testing and commissioning activities and verify compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare reports documenting labor, materials, equipment utilization, and construction progress.
- Verify that construction activities conform to approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and project requirements.
- Support the implementation and promotion of a safe work environment in accordance with owner and company safety policies.
- Coordinate the preparation of inspection cost estimates and maintenance records.
- Arrange, coordinate, and oversee inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations for compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate activities of independent testing laboratories and compare test results with contractor-provided testing data.
- May supervise and allocate work assignments to inspectors and field personnel.
- Attend project meetings, safety meetings, coordination meetings, and progress review meetings as required.
- Interface with contractors, subcontractors, project managers, engineers, architects, and client representatives to resolve construction issues.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Approximately ten (10) years of MEP inspection experience for Associate-level positions and ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible experience for Senior and Lead-level positions.
- Experience on large commercial, institutional, industrial, public works, infrastructure, transportation, or other complex construction projects.
- Experience as a General Contractor, Construction Supervisor, Building Inspector, MEP Inspector, or related construction professional preferred.
- Certifications from ICBO, ICC, NICET, NEC, or other nationally recognized licensing organizations preferred.
- Comparable Deputy Inspection License issued by a city, county, or state agency preferred.
- Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30 certification required.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and applicable building codes.
- Ability to implement and enforce project safety requirements and company safety policies.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Salary Range: $79,481- 128,959 YR
