MEP Superintendent — Monroe, LA
About the Role
We're hiring an MEP Superintendent to lead mechanical and electrical construction operations on a large-scale project in Monroe, Louisiana. This is a hands-on field leadership role: you'll own the day-to-day execution of MEP work, direct and develop the craft workforce, and partner closely with project management to keep labor, materials, equipment, and schedule aligned.

What You'll Do
Construction Operations
- Provide overall management of construction activities and task assignments
- Review construction documents for completeness and constructability
- Coordinate plans and specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying discrepancies
- Support the creation, review, and update of the project schedule and three-week look-ahead scheduling
- Develop and implement the site utilization plan and establish crew sizes
- Select formwork systems and equipment
- Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings
- Manage site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement
Budget & Resources
- Work with Project Manager(s) to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and the general working environment
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule
- Ensure crews have the resources and support they need to succeed
Team Leadership
- Provide oversight and supervision of work crews, including work direction and performance evaluations
- Coach, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents
- Establish and nurture a teamwork environment; lead by example and manage performance effectively
- Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions as needed
- Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities
Safety & Relationships
- Champion and implement the company's zero-injury safety program at the project site
- Manage open shop and union issues
- Maintain strong relationships with all site visitors — customers, architects, union representatives, and subcontractors
- Work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and across all organizational levels
- All other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering — or 10 years of trade experience
- Minimum 15 years of construction experience
- Minimum 10 years in a supervisory role, preferably with a mechanical or electrical contractor
- Current driver's license
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
- Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel up to 100%
