Merchandising Internship

The Von Maur Merchandising Internship is a 10-week immersive business and merchant development experience designed for students interested in pursuing a career in buying, merchandising, and retail strategy.Interns begin their experience in a Davenport Von Maur store to develop a foundational understanding of customer experience and how merchandising decisions impact business performance. Interns transition to the Corporate Office in Davenport, Iowa where they are paired directly with a Buyer and gain exposure to the full merchandising lifecycle.This internship provides hands-on experience in assortment planning, business analysis, vendor partnership, inventory strategy, and retail decision-making while developing the skills needed for a future career in merchandising.

What You'll Experience:

Gain hands-on experience supporting Buyers and merchandising teams in daily business executionAnalyze reports, business performance, and customer insights to identify opportunities and drive decisionsParticipate in assortment planning, inventory management, and merchandising strategyParticipate in store visits, vendor appointments, and professional development opportunities to gain exposure across the retail business

Our Ideal Candidate:

Must have a graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028 from a college/universityMajor related to Merchandising, Fashion, Business, Retail, Analytics, or a related fieldAvailable to work full time (35-40 hrs/week) during the summer and live in Davenport, Iowa for the 10-week program (paid housing provided)Retail, merchandising, leadership, or business experience preferredPossesses strong analytical, communication, and organizational skillsDemonstrates curiosity, adaptability, and interest in retail strategy and buyingProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office preferred
