Position Summary
Bloom Montana is seeking a results-minded analytics professional who can turn product, customer, marketing, and market data into practical recommendations and measurable business results. This is not a traditional reporting position. The Merchandising & Marketing Analytics Manager will be expected to determine what the data means, explain why it matters, recommend what the business should do next, and measure whether those actions produced the intended result.
Working across Merchandising, Marketing, Inventory Planning, and Retail Operations, this position will identify opportunities, build business cases, influence decisions, support execution, and evaluate outcomes. The ideal candidate combines strong technical and analytical capabilities with commercial judgment, curiosity, and an understanding of retail customer behavior.
Success requires someone who is comfortable working with SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar tools but who understands that analysis is only valuable when it leads to better decisions and improved performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchandising Responsibilities
Analyze product and category performance to identify assortment, pricing, inventory, and margin opportunities.
Partner with merchandising to develop data-driven strategies for product selection, pricing, promotions, and planograms
Recommend specific actions based on analytical findings and work with business partners to support their implementation.
Measure the results of merchandising actions and initiatives, including changes to assortment, pricing, promotions, placement, and inventory allocation.
Collaborate with inventory planning and retail teams to align stock levels, replenishment cycles, and space planning with anticipated customer demand.
Conduct competitive and market analysis to identify emerging product trends, assortment gaps, and pricing opportunities.
Marketing Responsibilities
Analyze customer purchasing behavior to identify meaningful segments, preferences, shopping patterns, and opportunities to improve engagement and sales.
Translate customer insights into recommendations/actions/implementation for targeting, promotions, product offerings, and customer communications.
Conduct pre-campaign analysis to define the target audience, business opportunity, expected outcomes, requirements for success, and measures of success.
Perform post-campaign analysis to evaluate incremental sales, margin, customer response, return on investment, and overall effectiveness.
Develop recommendations from campaign results and work with business partners to apply those learnings to future initiatives.
Play a role in development and coordination of marketing/creative collateral, and executive initiatives and actions.
Data and Technical Responsibilities
Extract and/or combine, and analyze data from multiple sources using SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
Translate business questions into clear analyses, practical recommendations, and measurable action plans.
Establish baseline performance and success measures for key initiatives, then monitor, report, and action on results.
Develop forecasts, business cases, and scenario analyses to support product launches, decisions, and initiatives.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of reporting data in partnership with other data owners.
Improve the accessibility and usefulness of business reporting
Identify gaps in available data and reporting capabilities and recommend practical solutions.
Distinguish meaningful trends and business drivers from short-term fluctuations or incomplete data.
Clearly communicate analytical findings, implications, and recommended actions to operators and senior leaders.
Balance analytical depth with speed, recognizing when the business needs a directional recommendation rather than a perfect answer.
Business Partnership & Execution
Serve as an analytical business partner to Merchandising, Marketing, Inventory Planning, Retail Operations, and senior leadership.
Proactively identify business opportunities and risks rather than waiting for requests or assignments.
Work directly with operators to understand business challenges, test assumptions, and develop practical solutions.
Build alignment around recommendations by clearly explaining the business rationale, anticipated impact, and measures of success.
Support the implementation of approved recommendations and maintain visibility into progress and results.
Develop repeatable processes for testing, learning, and applying insights across Bloom's retail locations.
Present findings in a concise, decision-oriented format appropriate for operational and executive audiences.
Manage multiple priorities and analytical projects while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and follow-through.
