Project Overview

Implement the OSCAR Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to enable Electronic Batch Records (EBR), along with equipment and OCPLM integration for CSD Frederick Manufacturing.

Project Justification

The EBR solution is intended to:

• Reduce batch record-related errors.
• Automate the capture and management of batch records.
• Provide easier access to records and a clear audit trail.
• Improve operational efficiency.
• Decrease manufacturing lead times.

Role Overview

As an IT Business Analyst at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will bridge business needs and technology solutions to support critical manufacturing initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business processes, gather and document requirements, facilitate workshops, and help deliver technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.

The role operates in an Agile environment and works closely with Manufacturing Operations, primarily supporting the Frederick, MD facilities, while also collaborating with other sites and IT teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Manufacturing Operations to create business value through new product introductions, productivity improvements, and process optimization.
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear technical and functional requirements.
• Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and IT teams.
• Create and maintain business and functional requirements.
• Develop user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
• Facilitate and lead workshops and stakeholder meetings.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and end-user training.
• Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work with MES systems and support MES-related business initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Apply Agile methodologies and project management principles throughout the SDLC.
• Analyze complex business problems and break them down into actionable components.
• Develop solutions that improve efficiency and reduce long-term total cost of ownership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and process improvement.
• 6–8 years of overall relevant experience preferred/required per requisition details.
• Extensive experience with Agile methodologies and project management principles.
• Strong experience in business requirements gathering and documentation.
• Advanced data analysis and reporting skills using:
  • Excel
  • Power BI
  • SQL
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and other project management/documentation tools.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
• Experience developing:
  • User stories
  • Process flows
  • Acceptance criteria
• Proficiency in conducting and supporting UAT.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Good understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with software development or configuration tools.
• Background in the Life Sciences industry.
• Experience working in a GxP environment.
• Experience with MES functional consulting.

Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
