Description

Overview

Client is seeking an MES Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and support Siemens Opcenter Execution solutions across a global manufacturing environment. This hands-on role combines software engineering, manufacturing operations, and system integration to support reliable shop floor operations and major MES initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support MES applications using .NET, C#, ASP.NET, and Web APIs.
  • Configure and enhance Siemens Opcenter Execution solutions based on manufacturing and business requirements.
  • Build and maintain integrations between MES, enterprise applications, and shop floor equipment.
  • Implement and support messaging technologies such as MSMQ, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar middleware.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent data flow across integrated applications and platforms.
  • Partner with manufacturing stakeholders, business teams, and IT colleagues to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on solution design, implementation approaches, and MES system improvements.
  • Support major system changes, enhancements, upgrades, and integration initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot complex production and non-production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Test and validate applications, integrations, and system changes for performance, stability, and business readiness.
  • Contribute to project planning, technical estimates, and delivery schedules.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and provide user support and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in an on-call support rotation after onboarding and training.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software development experience using .NET, C#, and ASP.NET.
  • Experience building and supporting enterprise applications using RESTful APIs and modern integration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with MSMQ, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging middleware.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, TFS, or similar source control and development platforms.
  • Strong relational database experience with Oracle or SQL Server.
  • Experience supporting systems within a 24/7 manufacturing, industrial, or operational environment.
  • Ability to independently manage complex technical work and contribute to large-scale system changes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred Skills or Experience

  • Experience with Siemens Opcenter Execution Designer and Portal, formerly Camstar.
  • Experience with other Manufacturing Execution System platforms.
  • Experience supporting significant system implementations, upgrades, or integration initiatives.
  • Familiarity with test-driven development, CI/CD, and automated deployment practices.
  • Experience with GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Experience working within Scrum or Agile teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools.

Work Details

  • Remote role requiring residence within a 1 2 hour commute of the Client's Charlotte, North Carolina office.
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
  • No overtime anticipated.
  • Up to 15% travel based on project needs.
  • One-hour panel video interview.
  • Possibility of extension based on demand.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation after onboarding and training.
