Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Metal Fabrication Shop Manager job in Mentor, OH for our client, a small but growing manufacturer of custom metal products including bespoke architectural metal products and custom precision machine metal products used in a variety of industries including architecture and construction. The metal shop manager will have oversight of the production floor, supervising and managing skilled production workers, ensuring quality products are manufactured. Candidates should have experience with a variety of metal fabrication processes and experience managing a team of 15 to 25 hourly associates and ensuring production meets company specifications.

Salary: Our client offers a salary of up to $100,000 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Schedule: First shift, rotating 5-day work week (example: Monday-Friday, the next week Tuesday-Saturday, the next week Wednesday to Sunday, etc.)

Responsibilities for the Metal Fabrication Shop Manager Job in Mentor, OH include:
  • Supervise and schedule shop staff; assign and organize daily work to meet production and shipping schedules
  • Implement, enforce and continuously improve shop procedures, safety and quality standards
  • Train, coach and develop employees; provide regular feedback and performance evaluations
  • Set and track performance goals and productivity metrics aligned with company objectives
  • Ensure compliance with legal, safety and company policies
  • Serve as liaison between shop personnel and upper management
  • Handle escalated customer issues and coordinate resolutions
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas and appropriate work capacity for deadlines

Required Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of metal shop experience
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing role
  • Hands-on experience with shop machinery, tools and blueprint reading
  • Proven ability to meet quality standards and deadlines in a manufacturing/shop environment 
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to workplace housekeeping 
  • Working knowledge of woodworking and general manufacturing processes
  • Cross-training experience and willingness to train others
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement/Lean practices

  • MS Office including proficiency in Excel Spreadsheet.
