Metal Fabricator Job Description Reporting to the Cleanroom Production Manager, the Metal Fabricator is a skilled professional responsible for executing metal fabrication tasks within a manufacturing setting. This role involves interpreting blueprints, fabricating components, and ensuring all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in strict adherence to quality standards. Essential Job Duties - Fabricate & Assemble: Participate directly in metal fabrication tasks including cutting, bending, welding, and assembling metal components.
- Welding Expertise: Demonstrate strong capability in FCAW-G and GMAW welding applications as required by project needs.
- Interpret Specifications: Read and accurately interpret technical drawings, shop sketches, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
- Quality Control: Monitor and maintain high-quality control measures throughout the fabrication process to ensure exact specifications are met.
- Safety Compliance: Prioritize and strictly enforce safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a clean, hazard-free working environment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Properly operate, clean, and assist in the routine maintenance of fabrication machinery, hand tools, and power equipment.
- Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to optimize fabrication processes, reduce material waste, and enhance overall efficiency without compromising quality.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain clear and open communication channels with the project manager, engineers, and fellow team members to meet project deadlines and scope.
- Other Duties: Perform additional shop and fabrication duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications Required Knowledge & Skills - Attendance: Excellent, reliable attendance is a strict requirement.
- Detail-Oriented: Superior attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Technical Aptitude: Deep understanding of metal fabrication processes, techniques, tools, and machinery designs/uses.
- Blueprint Literacy: Familiarity with reading and understanding shop drawings, safety rules, and operating/maintenance instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with the safe operation and handling of power tools.
- Work Ethic: Driven, accountable, innovative, and a self-starter who can multi-task and work efficiently to meet commitments.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to consistently lift heavy items weighing between 50–75 pounds.
Experience & Education - Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional fabrication experience.
- Certifications: MIG Welding certification is required. GTAW and SMAW welding experience is a significant plus.
- License: Valid Driver’s License required.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years of related work experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). A two-year degree or some college credits is preferred.
Work Environment & Schedule - Environment: This role is primarily performed indoors in a manufacturing facility with limited outdoor exposure.
- Schedule: This is a full-time position. The general schedule is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Employees may occasionally be required to work beyond the standard schedule (including potential nights and weekends) to meet production deliverables.
