Build Custom Equipment. Solve New Challenges Every Day.

If you're an experienced Metal Fabricator who enjoys working from prints, solving fabrication challenges, and building custom equipment, not just running the same production parts every day, we'd like to talk with you.

CHL Systems designs and manufactures custom automation systems, conveyor systems, robotic cells, packaging equipment, and material handling solutions for manufacturers throughout North America. Every machine we build is engineered specifically for our customer's application, so every project is different, giving you the opportunity to build custom equipment instead of running repetitive production parts.

We're looking for an experienced fabricator who can work independently, produce high-quality work, and bring strong fabrication skills to our growing team.

Why Join CHL Systems?

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Weekly pay
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays
  • Stable, family-owned company with more than 65 years of manufacturing excellence
  • Clean, organized, safety-focused work environment
  • Opportunity to work on custom industrial equipment of repetitive production
  • Long-term career growth and advancement opportunities

What You’ll Do

As a Metal Fabricator, you'll manufacture precision sheet metal components used in custom industrial automation and material handling equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Set up and operate press brakes to produce precision formed metal components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication prints, work orders, and blueprints
  • Determine proper tooling, bend sequences, and machine setups
  • Fabricate custom components to tight tolerances
  • Operate fabrication equipment including:
    • Press Brakes
    • Shears
    • Rollers
    • Ironworkers
    • Band Saws
    • Other fabrication equipment as needed
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, tape measures, protractors, squares, and other precision measuring tools
  • Troubleshoot fabrication and machine setup issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Machining, Welding, and Assembly throughout the build process

What We’re Looking For

This position is best suited for an experienced fabricator who is comfortable working independently and takes pride in producing quality work.

You're likely a great fit if you have experience with:

  • Precision sheet metal fabrication
  • Press brake setup and operation
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and fabrication prints
  • Fabricating custom parts from blueprints
  • Bend deductions and forming techniques
  • Precision measuring tools
  • Tight tolerance manufacturing
  • Machine setup and troubleshooting
  • Working safely in a manufacturing environment

Please Read Before Applying

This is an experienced fabrication position.

While welding experience is valuable, this role is primarily focused on precision fabrication and fabrication equipment operation, not production welding alone.

We're specifically looking for candidates who have experience operating fabrication equipment, reading engineering drawings, and producing precision fabricated components in a manufacturing environment.

If your background is primarily structural welding, pipe welding, maintenance welding, or general production welding without significant fabrication experience, this position may not be the best fit.

Manufacturing Backgrounds That Translate Well

Experience in one or more of the following environments is highly preferred:

  • Industrial equipment manufacturing
  • Automation equipment manufacturing
  • Conveyor systems
  • Material handling equipment
  • OEM manufacturing
  • Precision sheet metal fabrication
  • Custom metal fabrication
  • Machinery manufacturing
  • Heavy equipment fabrication

Minimum Qualifications

Level II Metal Fabricator

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Generally 2+ years of fabrication experience
  • Ability to independently operate fabrication equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent measuring and basic math skills

Level III Metal Fabricator

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Generally 4+ years of advanced fabrication experience
  • Experience independently setting up fabrication equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot fabrication processes and machine setups
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on complex fabrication projects

Equipment Experience

Experience operating several of the following is preferred:

  • Press Brakes
  • Shears
  • Rollers
  • Ironworkers
  • Band Saws
  • Laser Cutting Systems
  • Forklifts
  • Overhead Cranes

Experience with Amada, Cincinnati, Bystronic, Trumpf, Accurpress, or similar fabrication equipment is a plus, but not required.
