POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced Metal Forming Setup Technician to set up, troubleshoot, and operate single station presses and press brakes used in the production of precision sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will have experience performing machine setups, reading blueprints, verifying part quality, and supporting production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Progressive Forming (preferred)

  • Mechanical Presses

  • Hydraulic Presses

  • Precision Measuring Instruments

  • Blueprint Reading

  • First Article Inspection

  • Manufacturing Troubleshooting

  • Production Support

  • Quality Inspection

  • Lean Manufacturing


 


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:



  • Perform complete setups on single station presses and press brakes.

  • Install, align, and adjust tooling for production runs.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings.

  • Verify first-piece quality using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring equipment.

  • Troubleshoot tooling and forming issues to minimize downtime.

  • Make machine adjustments to maintain part quality throughout production.

  • Work closely with engineering, tooling, and production personnel.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and report equipment issues.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • 3+ years of experience setting up single-station presses, press brakes, or similar metal forming equipment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T is preferred.

  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.

  • Knowledge of sheet metal forming processes.

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.


PREFERRED CANDIDATES: Candidates with experience in precision sheet metal manufacturing, EMI shielding products, custom fabrication, or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environments are strongly encouraged to apply.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Works primarily in a climate controlled office environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential with moderate noise. Works at a computer terminal utilizing monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Utilizes electronic mail and telephone regularly.

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use at a workstation.
