Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a detail-oriented Metal Polisher to join a manufacturing and metal finishing team in Tulsa. This position is responsible for deburring, grinding, and polishing sheet metal and cast components to achieve specified surface finishes and quality standards.
The ideal candidate is comfortable using hand and power tools, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in producing smooth, consistent finishes on a variety of metals.
Required Experience & Skills
Familiarity with shop equipment, hand tools, and power tools
Ability to safely operate grinding and polishing equipment
Ability to read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to identify surface defects and determine when additional finishing is required
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Deburr, grind, and polish sheet metal and metal castings
Use hand and power-operated wheels and belts to achieve required finishes
Polish materials including brass, bronze, aluminum, gold, and silver
Read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, and drawings to determine specific finish requirements
Identify rough areas, imperfections, and surface defects
Correct defects to produce smooth surfaces according to required specifications
Report material or quality defects to supervisors
Set up and safely operate standard manufacturing and finishing equipment
Inspect completed work to ensure finish and quality requirements are met
Maintain a high level of attention and consistency throughout the finishing process
Complete assigned work within established production timeframes
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company quality, health, and safety procedures
Perform additional polishing, grinding, and production duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Previous metal polishing or finishing experience
Manufacturing or metal fabrication experience
Experience using belt sanders, polishing wheels, grinders, or similar equipment
Experience finishing brass, bronze, aluminum, or other specialty metals
Blueprint and technical drawing experience
Previous deburring or surface preparation experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive upper-body movement
Fine motor skills and manual dexterity required for detailed finishing work
Ability to safely operate grinders, polishing equipment, and other powered tools while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and metal finishing environment
Regular use of grinders, polishing wheels, belts, and other finishing equipment
Hands-on work with sheet metal, castings, and specialty metals
Exposure to production noise, dust, metal particles, and varying temperatures
Quality-focused environment requiring close attention to surface appearance and finish specifications
