You arrive on the pressroom floor ready to make production happen. Your first stop is the next scheduled changeover: you set and troubleshoot die tooling on production equipment so stamping operators can run safely and efficiently. You follow the written die setup instructions to the letter, and you verify the setup against all documented quality procedures.
Before the line moves, you run and gauge the first pieces of the job, comparing results to the specified quality gages as required. You submit the required pieces to quality leaders to obtain first-piece approval and the go-ahead to run. You install scrap shakers and all safety guards prior to handing the press over to the operator. When it’s time to wrap a job, you follow the written quality procedures for last-piece production instructions to close it out correctly.
Quick die changeovers are routine for you, and you handle coil loading on presses up to 1,000 tons with confidence. Throughout the shift you’re the resource operators count on to keep setups tight and production on spec.
