Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare material samples for mechanical, metallurgical, and chemical testing.
  • Perform laboratory tests including hardness testing, microscopic examinations, and other material evaluations.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
  • Collect, record, and analyze test data accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain laboratory documentation.
  • Assist engineers and scientists with research, development, and failure analysis projects.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and materials.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts.
  • Follow all company safety policies and applicable environmental regulations.

Qualifications

Education

  •  Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Metallurgical Technology, Materials Science, Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience may be considered.

 

Experience

  • Previous laboratory, manufacturing, quality control, or materials testing experience preferred.
  • Experience with metallurgical testing equipment and laboratory procedures is an asset.

 

Skills and Competencies

  •  Knowledge of laboratory testing methods and quality control practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and laboratory software systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity to operate laboratory instruments and prepare samples.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

 

Working Conditions

  • Laboratory and manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to chemicals, heat, noise, and industrial equipment while following established safety protocols.
  • May require occasional overtime to meet testing schedules and production demands.
