METCAD is a consolidated dispatch center which was established in June of 1979 with 9 Telecommunicators and an Administrative staff of two. Today, METCAD answers emergency 9-1-1 calls for all of Champaign County. With over 30 employees, METCAD provides direct dispatch service for all law enforcement and fire agencies throughout Champaign County.
Our Telecommunicators serve as essential personnel, providing emergency and non-emergency telephone and text assistance for Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) by quickly and accurately collecting and documenting critical information from callers in high-stress situations into the dispatch system.

Minimum Qualifications: • U. S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States (must meet I-9 requirements) • Valid Drivers License • High School Diploma or equivalent • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime • Ability to solve problems and provide excellent customer service in stressful situations • Ability to acquire mandated certifications (i.e. Law Enforcement Agency Data Systems, Emergency Medical Dispatch, National Incident Management Systems) during the training phase • Experience with dispatching, customer service, and computer use are preferred
