Summary of Position:

The Metrologist oversees all quality related activities related to the quality department and in particular, quality inspection. The Metrologist is responsible for creating inspection plans, methods and fixtures related to all Aerosonic product inspections, including the programming of Zeiss Scanbox and Zeiss CMM's. The Metrologist will inspect, adjust, and verify measurement instruments to ensure accuracy against established standards, repeating the cycle of inspect, adjust, verify, and document as needed. The Metrologist will provide guidance to engineering and production teams on measurement techniques and equipment operation to include evaluating new measurement technologies and methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

§ Responsible for conducting the precise measurements of products, components, and tools, analyze data to identify trends, assess instrument performance, and determine measurement uncertainties.

§ Conduct problem solving activities including data collection, problem identification, containment activities, root cause analysis, corrective action development, implementation, and verification for customer returns, internal non-conformities, audit findings, and process improvements.

§ Coordinate with the engineering department in the design and implementation of new fixtures related to inspection processes. Utilize current inspection machinery to assist in reverse engineering of products as needed.

§ Develop/ maintain product inspection plans and provide training to other inspectors to build quality awareness and increase team skills to ensure that products and processes conform to design requirements and Aerosonic's QMS.

§ Assist in leading new product launch activities from a quality inspector perspective through participation in production readiness reviews, designing inspection plans, establishing new design fixture(s) and completing First Article Inspection Planning to ensure a new product's release to production is accomplished successfully with the most robust manufacturing inspection processes possible.

§ Assist the Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the QMS and other quality functions as needed to ensure compliance to AS9100.

Qualifications:

§ 10 + years manufacturing experience in a Metrology/equivalent function or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years' experience in Aerospace quality inspection.

§ CMM Advanced/Expert Certified (preferably Zeiss) or demonstrated history of comparable experience

§ Must be Zeiss Scanbox certified/trained or similar optical inspection equivalent experience

§ Experience with ISO9001 / AS9100, or equivalent quality management system.

§ Strong interpersonal, organization and written/verbal communication skills.

§ Self-starter with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

§ Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

§ Self-motivated with the ability to effectively work with others in various coordinate disciplines, on multi-national teams, and to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

§ Must be able to work with ITAR products and related data without restriction.

Skill Set Required:

§ Strong PC skills, including Adobe, MRP systems (MAX, SAP, ORACLE), and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

§ Strong familiarity with blueprints & GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009 Standards

§ Strong background in AutoCAD or similar experience in fixturing and design

Skill Set Preferred:

§ Experience in Aerospace and/or automotive manufacturing environments.

§ Six Sigma Green belt or higher.

§ Strong background in precision machining.

§ Strong background with brazing and welding standards.

Physical Requirements:

§ Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
