Help protect Vertiv and Vertiv employees from environmental, heath, and safety risks so they can be prosperous and achieve their goals. Responsible for coordinating, implementing and/or conducting plant environmental, safety, and health activities. Helps ensure facility and business unit employees are trained in environmental, safety, and health policies and procedures. Supports a proactive safety program that actively involves employees through safety teams and committees. Helps ensure facility is compliant with all local, state, and federal environmental and safety laws and regulations.

Support the EHS Manager in all areas of environmental, health, and safety responsibility, including:

  • Identify environmental, health and safety risks and establish, improve, or maintain policies, procedures, and processes to protect employees from those risks.

  • Support corporate EHS goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) and challenge employees and leadership toward improvements in EHS outcomes.

  • Follow Vertiv corporate EHS policies and enforce local policies, procedures, and processes as needed.

  • Promote a Positive Safety Culture through effective safety awareness and incentive programs.

  • Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement immediate and long-term corrective actions.

  • Record all safety corrective actions and help drive them to completion.

  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Ergonomic Analyses and coordinate implementation of hazard reduction measures, including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Assist in all aspects of facility EHS programs, including:

  • Hazard communication

  • Contractor safety

  • Industrial hygiene (lead, asbestos, etc.)

  • Hearing conservation

  • Respirator protection

  • Ergonomics

  • Health and wellness

  • LOTO

  • Electrical safety

  • Confined spaces

  • Hot work

  • Machine guarding

  • Portable hand and power tools

  • Forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles

  • Cranes, hoists, and slings

  • Storage racks

  • Flammable and combustible liquids

  • Compressed gasses

  • Fire extinguishes and fixed fire protection

  • Walking-working surfaces, stairs and ladders, and working at heights

  • Emergency action plan

  • Bloodborne pathogens

  • Emergency eyewash and showers

  • Emergency exits, emergency lighting, and alarm systems

  • Environmental compliance, permitting, and air emissions management

  • Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management

  • Facility wastewater management

  • Ensure strict compliance with all OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and all other relevant local, state, and national regulatory agencies.

  • Audit work practices to ensure safety-related policies, procedures, and processes are being followed.

  • Assist in creating, conducting, and coordinating training on Hazardous Communications, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Forklift Operations, Ergonomics, Hearing Conservation, and all other relevant EHS topics.

  • Report on local EHS metrics and respond to trends in leading and lagging indicators.

  • Assist the Health Clinic and Occupational Nurse, including:

  • Workers' compensation claims management and representing Vertiv at workers' compensation hearings.

  • Employee wellness initiatives

  • Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) training, equipment, and drills

  • Approving work restrictions and monitoring employee injury recovery

  • Coordinate with vendors for employee safety shoe and prescription safety glasses programs

  • Coordinate hearing conservation program testing

  • Assist in maintaining facility organization and cleanliness through the Vertiv Operating System (VOS), 5S, and Lean manufacturing programs.

  • Help coordinate emergency response and natural disaster training and drills per Vertiv and local requirements.

  • Assist in the management of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, storage, and shipments.

  • Assist in the management of the facility air emissions inventory and ensure all required emissions calculations and reports are submitted on time.

  • Assist in the management of all hazardous materials brought on site, including approvals, labeling, storage, safety handling, and disposal.

  • Coordinate and participate in safety orientation for all new Vertiv employees, temporary employees, and contract employees.
