    Job Description:

    This position is located in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division – Watershed Protection Branch – Drinking Water Program. The incumbent in this position will manage the Drinking Water Permitting Unit, Drinking Water Compliance Unit, Drinking Water Inspection Team and the Source
    Water Assessment Team. The Drinking Water Program Manager is responsible for the oversight of over 2,400 public water systems in the state including source water protection, permitting, approvals of plans and specifications, compliance, inspections of the water plants, laboratory certification and
    investigations of consumer complaints in a timely manner. The Drinking Water Program Manager is responsible for implementing the State Environmental Review Process (SERP) for any domestic wastewater or drinking water project seeking funding from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) or Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) through the Georgia Environmental
    Finance Authority (GEFA). The Drinking Water Program Manager is responsible for assisting in grant application preparation and administering technical assistance contracts with our training partners. The Drinking Water Program Manager is also responsible for developing new and revising existing drinking water rules for adoption by the DNR Board by conducting stakeholder processes and following the
    state rule adoption framework. The Drinking Water Program Manager is also responsible for submitting all reports to EPA for Annual Compliance, Operator Certification, Capacity Development, Public Water System Supervision (PWSS) and grants in a timely manner.

    Preference may be given to applicants with:
    - Graduate degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering (Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Sanitary) or related field from an accredited college or
    university.
    - Knowledge of or experience with the Safe Drinking Water Act, Georgia Water Supply Act and/or Georgia Water Well Standards Act.
    - Knowledge of or experience with National Primary Drinking Water Regulations.
    - Demonstrated ability to work with multiple partners and stakeholders.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering (agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical or sanitary) or a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional experience in environmental enforcement, environmental health, environmental monitoring, environmental protection or environmental research, which includes two (2) years in a managerial role; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr 1, Env Protection (RCM010) or position equivalent.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
