Clinical Services Manager, Intellectual Disability Services, Unit C - IDD

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing clinical leadership in an acute care intellectual disability inpatient unit. The Clinical Services Manager oversees the provision of clinical services and the implementation of therapeutic programming. Assures that services are provided by qualified professionals and are compliant with all requirements. Responsible for effective coordination of services by providers and facilitating supervision of clinical staff. Develops performance targets and assures their successful completion. Provides leadership for continuous performance improvement for the hospital’s services, operations, and functions. Provides clinical and administrative leadership, guidance, support, and supervision to program employees of all disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Participates in performance appraisal of staff and collaborates with unit clinical and administrative leaders to develop performance improvement goals and objectives.
  • Models the Standards and Behaviors and supports/implements improvements associated with better quality care and customer service through Quality Council and other improvement teams.
  • Participates in hiring process as appropriate.
  • Prepares documentation for possible disciplinary actions and makes recommendations for such action in collaboration with other leadership.
  • Provides recommendations to department management for commendations, bonuses, or other appropriate forms of recognition for outstanding performance of employees on applicable shift.
  • Makes work assignments and directs work activities. Oversees all payroll functions for unit staff.
  • The Clinical Services Manager develops and oversees all unit programming.
  • Supervises and provides leadership to clinical and clinical support staff and collaborates with them in matters of current program functioning.
  • Coordinates programmatic activities and unit milieu management with clinical and administrative staff for provision of quality patient care on the unit.

  • Provides guidance and direction as needed to IDD unit staff for clinical aspects of treatment, including programming, maintenance of therapeutic milieu, clinical issues affecting treatment outcomes, and clinical quality improvement activities. Minimum of monthly meetings to ensure that communication occurs and that the staff is up to date on new expectations and changes that impact the staff or patients.
  • Identifies need for quality improvement and facilities and collaborates with, or supports, quality improvement processes. This includes assurance of clinical representation when indicated in hospital FEMA and RCA processes.
  • Ensures maintenance of accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinates with medical staff activities as appropriate to ensure quality clinical patient care.
  • Ensures processes for communication are effective between utilization management and clinical care providers and that patients are receiving services at the appropriate level of care.
  • Stays aware of clinical changes in the field and community and maintains personal growth and development.
  • Assures appropriate supervision for any non-medical clinical staff performing professional services in a student capacity or as an employee awaiting licensure.
  • Collaborates with clinical leaders of Peninsula to ensure effective continuum of services.
  • Makes recommendations to Administration for training and development needs of staff to ensure competence.
  • Interfaces regularly with MCO representatives to coordinate care in the population served. Participates in regular communication and works as a liaison for Peninsula IDD services.
  • Builds and maintains external relationships within the community to assist with coordination of care for the IDD population. Is available to assist with onsite meetings and community activities related to this population when necessary.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum Education           

Master’s degree in behavioral analysis, psychology or education.

 

Minimum Experience          

Two (2) years supervisory experience required. Strong leadership skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.

 

Licensure Requirement

Must have and maintain: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
