GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Manager, Emergency Management (reporting to the Director of Business Continuity and Emergency Management) supports the day-to-day planning, coordination, and operational oversight of emergency preparedness activities across Henry Ford Health. This role is responsible for facilitating program implementation, managing routine readiness operations, supporting compliance initiatives, and coordinating emergency training and response capabilities across hospitals and ambulatory sites for established regions. The Manager serves as a liaison between system leadership and local emergency management stakeholders and plays a key role in ensuring a unified, all-hazards approach to preparedness and response across the enterprise.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Homeland Security, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in emergency management, preferably in a healthcare or public health setting.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating system-level or multi-facility programs preferred.
  • FEMA Independent Study completion required (IS 100, 200, 700, 800); ICS 300 and 400.
  • Knowledge of emergency management principles and regulatory requirements within a healthcare environment.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities across a system.
  • Proficiency in developing, reviewing, and maintaining emergency response and preparedness documents.
  • Effective communicator with ability to build relationships and influence across clinical, operational, and administrative stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), NIMS, and ICS principles.
  • Ability to facilitate training and exercises in compliance with HSEEP standards.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations from CMS, The Joint Commission, and ASPR.
  • Technically adept with emergency notification systems, incident management platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and documentation practices.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: HSEEP certification required or obtained within six (6) months of hire. Professional certification preferred (e.g., CHEP, PEM, CEM). Valid Michigan Driver¿s License and ability to travel across the health system.
