*Shift Hours: 700-3:15
*Days of Week: Monday- Friday 
Responsibilities:

Incumbents in this position are responsible for: 

  • Day-to-day operations and professional nursing practice of assigned unit(s). 
  • Hiring and firing of nursing personnel, periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities.
  • Cost center(s) budgets. Supervises RN's, Patient Care Associates, Clerical Associates and other clinical support personnel. Coaches and mentors, the Assistant Nurse Manager, if applicable, for succession planning.
Qualifications:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree. Must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing.

 

Preferred Education: Master's in Nursing or related field

 

Necessary Skills:

1. Previous supervisory experience

2. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.

3. Ability to function independently.

4. Demonstrated management skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation techniques.

5. Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards and other regulatory standards.

6. Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and the Collective Bargaining Unit Contract.

 

Required Licensure/Certifications: -Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida -

BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas. -ACLS from the American Heart Association is required for FC Gastroenterology (703700), Surgery Center North (633480), and Radiology Special Procedures (603600). -PALS from the American Heart Association is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer for Surgery Center North (633480) and Radiology Special Procedures (603600). -Effective January 1, 2015, all new hires or transfers must have a professional certification within two years of hire or transfer. For certifications that require a specified number of cases or hours worked within the specialty, the certification must be applied for once the case/time requirement has been met, and the certification must be obtained within one year of the requirement having been met (e.g. oncology, chemotherapy, diabetes education).

 

Required Experience: 1-2 years Supervisory or Charge Nurse experience -AND- 3-5 years Clinical experience

 

Preferred Experience: Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities. For Radiology areas, preferred experience is 1-2 years in the ED, ICU, Radiology, or procedural areas (GI Lab, Cath Lab, etc.) as a registered nurse.
