Job Description:
Job Purpose
This role will manage all operational aspects of an ExpertFinish facility, which pre-finishes LP SmartSide Siding products into several pre-finished colors. The Plant Manager leads a multi-function site business team with the primary objective to exceed customer expectations, maintain compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements, ensure a safe and secure work environment for all employees, while reducing cost, and achieving operational excellence.
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Drives continuous safety, quality and environmental improvements and culture based on current Best Practices
- Interacts with upper level management to define resource needs of the plant such as raw materials and capital projects
- Leads multi-function site business team
- Communicates the corporate vision and goals to staff and employees
- Develops, communicates and implements plant goals, business objectives, operating plans (including annual budget) and capital plans (3 - 5 years)
- Manages and develops staff and employees, including hiring, orientating, training and performance management
- Accountable for achieving forecasted financial performance results
- Contribute to the process of managing the capital projects and cost reductions process
- Manage production planning process to ensure production plan is aligned with order files and lead time expectations
- Establishes and maintains quality processes to ensure products meets standards and employees are focused on order fulfillment and customer experience metrics

- Safety: Responsible for employee safety and plant environmental compliance. Manages plant EH&S manager and works cross-functionally with central resources to create and maintain a safety-first culture ensuring that all employees within the facility are working safely and environmentally responsibly.
- Quality: Establishes and maintains quality processes to ensure products meets standards and exceed customer expectations. Conducts daily audits and walk-throughs monitoring the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing, QC Lab, warehousing and shipping areas to ensuring quality standards are met.
- Financial: Leads plant leadership team and works collaboratively with central financial resources to develop plant annual budgets. Accountable for achieving forecasted financial performance results, and regularly presents plant financial performance to upline leadership.
- Customer Service: Work closely with the Production Superintendent and Mill Planner to review the production schedule and make certain that necessary raw materials are on site or have been ordered and that the proper staffing level exists in all areas of the plant.
- People: Hire, train, and manage employees assuring that they possess an understanding of their core responsibilities, company policies and can operate their assigned work stations/machines/processes at acceptable levels of performance and in accordance with safety, quality and standard operating procedures
- Facilities. Work with the maintenance manager to review preventative maintenance schedules and ensure that the facility and production equipment are properly operating. Act as a strategy partner with regards to long term capital planning and plant improvements.
Education
- Bachelors degree in Business, Manufacturing, Production or related field.
Work Environment
- Plant & office environment. Exposure to machinery, electrical sources, dust, chemicals, & loud noise.
- Some travel (10%)
