Position Summary:

The Technical Supervisor will be responsible for the technical oversight and day-to-day operations of the CLIA-certified laboratory. The position ensures compliance with federal CLIA regulations and Massachusetts Department of Public Health clinical laboratory regulations (105 CMR 180), maintains quality systems, oversees laboratory personnel performing moderate- and high-complexity testing and when necessary, perform testing.

The Technical Supervisor under the supervision of the laboratory director provides technical expertise for method validation, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of patient test results.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide technical oversight for Infectious disease laboratory testing
  • Ensure laboratory procedures, methods, and test systems meet CLIA and Massachusetts regulatory requirements.
  • Select appropriate methodologies for the clinical use of tests and verify performance specifications (accuracy, precision, reportable range).
  • Approve and oversee validation and verification of new assays and instruments.
  • Establish and verify test performance characteristics.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform Instrument troubleshooting
  • Ensure procedures reflect current regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and root cause analysis.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Review test utilization and turnaround time metrics.
  • Provide consultation to clinicians regarding laboratory testing and results interpretation when appropriate.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science
  • Four years of pertinent full-time laboratory experience in infectious disease testing

  • 1st shift Monday-Friday
  • $85-$110K Depending on Experience
