PGS Worldwide is seeking a Semiconductor Equipment Support Technician to join our team supporting a leading aerospace and defense subcontractor. This is a weekend shift position ideal for individuals with technical maintenance experience who are ready to work on advanced semiconductor tools in a cleanroom environment. This is a six month contract-to-hire.
Responsibilities:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on front-end and back-end semiconductor equipment, including steppers, evaporators, sputters, implanters, etchers, coaters/developers, and dicing saws.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, and basic software/control issues on legacy and custom tools.
Collaborate with process engineers, researchers, and tool owners to diagnose and resolve equipment problems in a dynamic Production/R&D setting.
Log maintenance activities, downtime events, and parts usage in internal tracking systems.
Support tool installations, decommissioning, and upgrades, coordinating with vendors and facilities teams.
Maintain and order critical spares, consumables, and safety components.
Follow cleanroom protocols and ensure tools meet safety, cleanliness, and calibration standards.
Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance tool uptime, reduce maintenance cycles, and improve user satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance or a technical trade.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with vacuum pumps, gas systems, and cleanroom operations.
Ability to work independently in a research-driven environment with frequent tool changeovers.
U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or technical training in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field.
Experience with legacy semiconductor tools (wet and dry processes).
Exposure to low-volume, high-mix R&D or prototyping environments.
Basic understanding of front-end and back-end semiconductor fabrication process flows.
Familiarity with safety protocols for gases, chemicals, and high-voltage equipment.
