We are looking for a highly hands-on Microfabrication Technician to support the development and fabrication of next-generation neural interface devices. This role will work closely with engineers to build and refine microfabricated components, precision assemblies, and early-stage prototypes. The ideal candidate enjoys working with their hands, learning new fabrication techniques, and solving practical build challenges in a fast-moving R&D environment.
Responsibilities
Fabricate polymer films, coatings, and microfabricated components using processes such as spin coating, spray coating, curing, lamination, and precision material handling.
Perform microscope-based precision assembly, including alignment, bonding, soldering, trimming, and inspection of small components.
Learn and operate laser-based and other advanced fabrication equipment used for cutting, joining, and processing device components.
Develop and use fixtures, jigs, and assembly aids to support rapid prototyping and improve process repeatability.
Work closely with engineers to build prototypes, troubleshoot fabrication issues, and improve processes for manufacturability and yield.
Maintain clear build records, process documentation, equipment, materials, and an organized laboratory environment.
Qualifications
Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in microfabrication, electronics, medical devices, semiconductor fabrication, manufacturing, prototyping, or a related field.
Strong manual dexterity and demonstrated ability to perform precise, detail-oriented work.
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
Microfabrication or cleanroom processes
Spin coating or spray coating
Polymer or thin-film processing
Fine soldering or electronics assembly
Microscope-based assembly
Laser cutting, welding, or ablation
Adhesive dispensing and bonding
Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical, hands-on approach to solving problems.
Comfortable working in an R&D environment where processes and designs are still evolving.
Organized, detail oriented, and able to carefully document work.
Nice to Have
Experience with implantable medical devices, flexible electronics, MEMS, semiconductor processing, or other precision microsystems.
Familiarity with plasma treatment, thin-film processing, photolithography, or related fabrication techniques.
Experience developing fixtures or tooling using machining, 3D printing, or CAD.
Familiarity with medical device quality systems or controlled manufacturing environments.
Salary: Base salary between $85,000 and $110,000 per year and stock option or restricted stock units grants.
