Microreactor System Engineer X-energy LLC is hiring Microreactor System Engineers to join its team. This role is responsible for executing rigorous systems engineering processes to support the design, integration, and management of complex nuclear systems throughout their lifecycles. Working within established model‑based systems engineering frameworks, the position ensures all system components work together effectively and meet project requirements.Responsibilities Apply systems thinking and take a holistic approach to solve problems, analyze and design systems, and consider the interdependencies and interactions between various components.Lead and manage systems engineering lifecycle efforts surrounding:Stakeholder and operational analysisRequirement identification, decomposition, and managementFunctional decomposition and modelingLogical system architecture development and modelingPhysical product definition, interface management, and change controlDesign integration and testingSystem verification and validationConcept of operations development and modelingDevelop and maintain system behavior models using model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) tools within established product lifecycle management (PLM) frameworks.Lead the identification and monitoring of technical risks and the development of risk mitigation strategies.Support value engineering activities including cost analyses, economic feasibility assessments, and cost reduction opportunity identification.Write and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.Execute systems engineering processes within X-energy's quality management framework.Work across engineering disciplines to ensure effective integration of system components and subsystems.Perform work in accordance with X-energy quality assurance procedures to ensure engineering products meet required standards.Lead the execution of core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section without close supervision and with latitude for independent judgment.Provide feedback and guidance to junior team members.Lead small groups of engineers to solve complex technical problems and deliver high quality engineering work products on time and within budget.Perform other duties as assigned by manager.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering or another engineering discipline from an ABET‑accredited institution.Typically ten years of experience in an engineering role.Master's degree in engineering or related field may be in lieu of two years of experience.Ph.D. in engineering or related field may be in lieu of three years of experience.Previous experience at X-energy in exceeding performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience.Experience with systems engineering software tools.Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: System Lifecycle Processes (ISO15288)Operational & Stakeholder AnalysisRequirements ManagementSystem Design & Interface ManagementDesign Integration & TestingVerification & ValidationModel‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools and MethodsProduct Lifecycle Management Systems (e.g., Teamcenter PLM, Cameo, Capella, Genesys, SysML, DOORS)Location 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MDWork Site Expectations 4 days in office.
