    The Opportunity

    \n

    DOTec is seeking a Mid-Level Architectural Designer to support project design, coordination, and construction-document delivery under the direction of licensed architects. This position will translate program, site, code, client, and technical criteria into coherent design concepts, BIM models, drawings, details, presentations, and permit-ready documents.

    This role is suited to a designer who can independently advance defined project areas, manage model and drawing quality, coordinate engineering disciplines, and seek senior direction when design or code decisions require licensed judgment.     What You Will Do

    \n
    1. \n
    2. Support programming, site and existing-condition review, concept development, schematic design, design development, construction documents, permitting, and construction-phase services.
    3. \n
    4. Develop coordinated floor plans, reflected-ceiling plans, roof plans, elevations, sections, wall sections, details, schedules, notes, room information, and material selections.
    5. \n
    6. Create and maintain organized Revit models and AutoCAD drawings; manage views, sheets, families, links, annotations, and model standards appropriate to the assigned project.
    7. \n
    8. Research and document applicable zoning, occupancy, construction type, allowable area and height, egress, fire-resistance, accessibility, envelope, and adopted building-code requirements.
    9. \n
    10. Coordinate architectural documents with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, fire-protection, landscape, interiors, equipment, and consultant information.
    11. \n
    12. Prepare presentation materials, diagrams, finish and product information, and client-review packages that communicate design intent clearly and consistently.
    13. \n
    14. Self-check models and documents, resolve quality-control and permit comments, and support RFIs, submittals, site observations, field conditions, and record-document updates.

    16. Plan assigned tasks, maintain organized project files, communicate progress and risks, and contribute to BIM standards, details, templates, and junior-staff development.

    2. Design intent is translated into coordinated, code-informed, constructible, and review-ready documents.

    4. Architectural models, sheets, schedules, and consultant information remain synchronized, with conflicts raised early.

    6. Assigned work meets scope and schedule expectations, review comments are resolved thoroughly, and design judgment continues to mature.

    Required Qualifications

    \n
    1. \n
    2. Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, architectural studies, environmental design, or a closely related field from an accredited or demonstrably equivalent program.
    3. \n
    4. Three (3) or more years of relevant professional architectural-design experience, including design development and construction-document production.
    5. \n
    6. Working knowledge of building planning, materials, assemblies, detailing, construction methods, accessibility, life safety, and multidisciplinary coordination.
    7. \n
    8. Familiarity with the International Building Code, accessibility standards, zoning and permit requirements, and the role of specifications and consultant documents.
    9. \n
    10. Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD and working ability with Adobe Creative Suite and common visualization, presentation, or rendering tools.
    11. \n
    12. Strong design communication, documentation, organization, self-checking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; regular on-site attendance and occasional project travel.

    Preferred Qualifications

    \n
    1. \n
    2. Professional degree from a NAAB-accredited architecture program and active progress through AXP toward architectural licensure.
    3. \n
    4. Experience with commercial, institutional, multifamily, industrial, renovation, adaptive-reuse, or existing-building projects.
    5. \n
    6. Experience with BIM coordination, specifications, sustainable-design credentials, permitting, or construction administration.
    7. \n

    Work Location and Schedule

    \n

    This is a full-time, on-site position at DOTec's St. Charles, Missouri office. The regular schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. On-site presence is essential for design collaboration, BIM coordination, material and detail review, mentoring, and access to project teams, samples, and controlled design records; no routine remote or hybrid arrangement is available. Occasional approved project travel, site visits, or meetings outside the office may be required. DOTec will consider reasonable accommodations as required by applicable law.
