ROLE
We need an experienced Mid Level Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) at the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO). GPO is the federal agency that produces and distributes the official publications of the U.S. Government, and this contract supports the databases behind business systems across the agency. In this role, you will perform day to day Oracle database administration, troubleshooting, and configuration under the guidance of the Senior Oracle DBA. You will also support capacity planning and system health monitoring for Oracle database environments, manage and resolve assigned RFCs and ServiceNow tickets in accordance with operational SLAs, and troubleshoot database and application level integration issues tied to Oracle backends. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform day-to-day Oracle database administration, troubleshooting, and configuration under the guidance of the Senior Oracle DBA
• Support proactive capacity planning and system health monitoring for Oracle database environments
• Manage and resolve assigned RFCs and ServiceNow tickets in accordance with operational SLAs
• Assist internal customers/users with building, configuring, and troubleshooting Oracle databases
• Troubleshoot database issues (Oracle, and cross-platform where applicable) and application-level integrations tied to Oracle backends
• Produce weekly support activity reports documenting work performed and outcomes
• Escalate complex or high-severity issues to the Senior Oracle DBA as needed
• Maintain documentation of system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures

BACKGROUND/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in enterprise production environments
• Expertise across: Oracle, Oracle Grid, Oracle RMAN, and PL/SQL
• Working familiarity with SQL, SQL Server, SQL Clustering, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access (multi-platform environment; team-wide technology coverage is a proposal evaluation factor)
• DBA II-level competency, demonstrated across the following areas:
  • Provisioning & Config: Runs standard templates/runbooks
  • Backup/Restore: Performs and validates backup restores
  • Patching: Applies minor patches with guidance
  • Performance Tuning: Basic query/index hygiene tuning
  • HA/DR: Implements and tests failover scenarios
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Acknowledges and escalates alerts appropriately
  • Security & Compliance: Follows established security baselines
  • Scripting & Automation: Writes robust automation/IaC scripts
  • Incident Management: Executes established runbooks during incidents
• Experience with ITSM/ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) for request lifecycle management
• Familiarity with database monitoring/capacity planning tools (e.g., Idera, SolarWinds)
• Experience troubleshooting application-level integrations with Oracle backends (e.g., SharePoint)

DESIRED SKILL/EXPERIENCE

• Relevant Oracle certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Certified Associate (OCA), or equivalent)
• Experience supporting federal government database environments or GSA Schedule-based task orders
• Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud-hosted Oracle environments in addition to on-premises Oracle
• Working familiarity with MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS Access (additional platforms named in the broader contract scope)
• Exposure to SQL Server environments (a plus, given the mixed-platform nature of the team)

HOURS

• 40 hours per week. 8 hours per day between core hours of 7:30am-6:00pm EST.
• Periodic after-hours availability for scheduled patching, reboots, and maintenance

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION

• Employment Classification Eligibility – W2

RELOCATION

• Not eligible for relocation benefits

COMPENSATION

• Salary range: $115,000 – $125,000
