Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is an ENR 500 A/E firm offering services in civil engineering, construction management, traffic and transportation design, water and wastewater systems, environmental and water resources, and landscape architecture.Position SummaryAMT is hiring a Transportation Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience to join the transportation team in the Raleigh, NC office. The role will support a variety of projects, including data collection, existing condition and alternative analysis, engineering report preparation, development of horizontal and vertical alignments, cross‑section and superelevation design, roadside barrier design, ADA curb ramp design, roadway modeling, and MOT/traffic related plans. The candidate may also work on projects at other AMT offices.Key ResponsibilitiesCollect and analyze data for transportation projects.Perform existing condition assessments and alternative analyses for engineering reports.Develop horizontal and vertical alignments.Design cross sections, superelevations, roadside barriers, and ADA curb ramps.Model roadways and produce MOT/traffic related plans.Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and highway plans for construction bid packages.QualificationsBS in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.Minimum 4 years of relevant transportation engineering experience.North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.Strong knowledge of civil engineering design concepts.Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).Prior work with NCDOT (preferred); experience with municipalities and other state DOTs a plus.Familiarity with ORD intersection and roadway corridor modeling is a plus.Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS (ArcGIS or Google Earth), SignCAD, or AutoTurn is an advantage.Completion of NCDOT prequalification courses is a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.BenefitsCompetitive salary and benefits.Tiered medical coverage.Dental and vision coverage.401(k) with generous company match.Employee Stock Ownership Plan.Short‑ and long‑term disability insurance.College savings plan.Life insurance.Paid time off and holidays.Training and certification opportunities.AMT is an employee‑owned firm with a commitment to work/life balance, offering a hybrid schedule (three days in the office, remote work flexibility).
