Mid & Sr. Systems Engineer

About The Role:

Join our Chicago-based Infrastructure team as a Mid- or Senior-Level Systems Engineer. You'll design, build, and scale the systems that power our trading platform-tackling tough performance challenges and optimizing how software meets hardware. Expect to work across messaging, monitoring, and high-throughput systems alongside talented engineers in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. This role reports to the Head of Infrastructure.

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Design, build, maintain high-throughput, low-latency systems software.
  • Debug and resolve complex distributed systems issues.
  • Scale and tune infrastructure for peak performance.
  • Work autonomously on tough technical challenges with sound judgment on when to escalate.
  • Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to deliver reliable trading infrastructure.
  • Apply systems-level insight to guide architecture and design choices.

 

What We're Looking For:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Senior: 4–5 years' experience writing system-level code in C#, C++, or similar
  • Mid: 1–3 years' experience writing system-level code in C#, C++, or similar
  • Strong grasp of OS internals (Windows or Linux) and networking fundamentals
  • Experience with distributed, high-throughput systems
  • Skilled at diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues
  • Track record of problem-solving in fast-paced environments
  • Hands-on mindset with the judgment to know when to collaborate
  • Experience with kernel bypass, performance tuning, allocations, and GC highly valued
  • Curiosity about how software interacts with hardware at a low level
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
