About Gladstone Road Primary School

A historic school, providing education to the children of Scarborough since 1896

Here at Gladstone Road Primary School, we provide a friendly and inspirational education setting for our staff and children. As a four-form primary school you join the largest primary team (in the area) who will support and challenge you in your practice.

Set in a historic school in the heart of Scarborough, we are very much an extension of local families and communities, and we pride ourselves on being able to offer more than just 'schooling'.

We make the most of what is in the local area to provide pupils with a variety of educational experiences, ranging from annual trips to the beach in the summertime, attending local museums and art galleries, castles and more. Linking the curriculum to offsite activities to bring learning to life.

Being part of #teamglaggo means you will be part of a forward-thinking, evolving, individual school.

We welcomed our experienced Headteacher in January 2020 and since then, have overhauled our curriculum, leadership structure, provision, and learning environments, which we celebrated with a 'Good' Ofsted report in July 2023. We have a committed, talented and cohesive staff, delightful children and strong and supportive Governors - every one of us united to build a school we can all be proud of.

Our Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual to join our team as a Midday Supervisory Assistant. In this important part-time role, you will help ensure that our pupils enjoy a safe, happy, and engaging lunchtime experience, both during meals and playtime.

This opportunity is ideal for those looking to balance work with other commitments, explore a career working with children, or gain valuable experience towards becoming a Teaching Assistant. We're seeking friendly, reliable team players who are passionate about supporting children and promoting positive behaviour and social development during the school day.

Key duties:

  • Keep an eye on playgrounds, fields, cloakrooms, and classrooms during lunch
  • Help clear away food and equipment after meals
  • Handle minor first aid and report incidents properly
  • Support behaviour management and report concerns
  • Spot and report unusual or inappropriate behaviour
  • Settle small disputes between pupils
  • Help with lunchtime activities and equipment setup

You will have:

  • Awareness of health and hygiene issues
  • Experience appropriate to working with children
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work successfully in a team

We can offer you:

  • A school with a renewed focus that puts pastoral and nurture provision at its heart and an aspirational outlook for our children
  • Happy, enthusiastic children who are thriving and have a thirst for learning
  • Clear and tailored CPD for all staff
