DESCRIPTION

The East Troy Community School District (ETCSD) is hiring a full-time Choir and General Music Teacher beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. This position serves as the director for choirs in grades 6-8 and all high school choirs (concert and camarata) and teaches 6th grade general music. The successful candidate will possess strong background knowledge, skills, and dispositions that support personalized learning environments by demonstrating the ability to:

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in middle and high school choral music and 6th grade general music that meets the diverse learning needs of students.
• Foster healthy vocal technique, musicianship, music literacy, and artistic expression through sequential instruction.
• Prepare students for concerts, performances, festivals, assessments, and other public presentations that showcase student growth and achievement.
• Select and maintain developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive repertoire that supports district curriculum and instructional goals.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, challenged, and encouraged to participate in music-making.
• Differentiate instruction and assessment to support learners with varying abilities, interests, and educational needs.
• Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative measures and use data to inform instructional decisions.
• Establish and maintain a classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, collaboration, and student engagement.
• Collaborate with colleagues across grade levels and content areas to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives.
• Recruit, retain, and support student participation in choral music programs through positive relationships and meaningful musical experiences.
• Organize, coordinate, and supervise concerts, performances, rehearsals, festivals, field trips, and other program-related events.
• Manage music library resources, classroom equipment, instruments, technology, and instructional materials to support student learning.
• Communicate regularly with students, families, administrators, and community stakeholders regarding student progress, performances, and program activities.
• Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, travel, and other school-sponsored activities in accordance with district policies and procedures.
• Contribute as an active member of the Music Department to grow student skills and develop an appreciation for and interest in music.
• Develop and implement practices reflective of the district's policy on Personalization.
• Act as a reflective practitioner to consider effectiveness, set goals, and ensure continued professional growth.
• Regularly seek out and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Consistently demonstrate honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Serve as a positive role model for students, fellow staff, and the overall District.
• Communicate high expectations for ALL students.
• Develop positive home/school relationships with diverse family structures.
• Contribute to growing a positive school culture for students, staff, and community.

Must have the ability to:

• Sit or stand for prolonged periods and move between seated positions.
• Perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
• Move throughout the building, including in emergency situations.
• Operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
• Complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm.
• Maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy.
• This is an in-person position, primarily in a school setting. Relevant work equipment, such as desks, chairs, computer monitors, etc. are provided to ensure a comfortable workspace.
