Position Details

Morenci Area Schools is seeking an exceptional educational leader to serve as Middle School/High School Principal and Special Programs Coordinator. The successful candidate will lead grades 6-12 and work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and the community to foster a positive school culture, high levels of student achievement, and meaningful opportunities for all learners.

DAYS/HOURS

  • 215 days per year
  • Full-Time, occasional evening and weekend events

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate or ability to obtain certification.
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field required.
  • Successful teaching and administrative experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PBIS, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional leadership focused on student achievement and growth.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate instructional and support staff.
  • Utilize data to guide instructional decisions and school improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with district leadership to implement strategic initiatives and achieve district goals.
  • Oversee CTE programs and ensure all required reporting is completed
  • Promote student engagement through academics, athletics, fine arts, extracurricular activities, and career-focused opportunities.
  • Maintain strong communication with families and community stakeholders.
  • Support student discipline through restorative and relationship-centered practices.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements, board policies, and district procedures.
  • Manage building operations, budgets, and resources effectively.

Additional Responsibilities - Grants & Special Program Coordination

  • Serve as the district coordinator for assigned federal, state, and local grants, including planning, implementation, monitoring, compliance, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate the district's At-Risk programming in accordance with state requirements to ensure eligible students receive appropriate academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and attendance supports.
  • Collaborate with district and building staff to identify student needs and align grant-funded initiatives with district strategic goals and school improvement plans.
  • Coordinate required data collection, documentation, and reporting for grant-funded and At-Risk programs.
  • Provide leadership in identifying grant opportunities and assist in the development of grant applications as assigned.
  • Facilitate communication with staff, families, intermediate school district personnel, and state agencies regarding grant-funded initiatives and At-Risk programming.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of grant-funded programs and At-Risk interventions using student performance, attendance, behavior, and other relevant data to support continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Reporting Relationship

  • Reports to the Superintendent

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises all teachers and support staff in the building.
