Middle-High School Special Education Teacher

The School District of Glenwood City is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Middle-High School Special Education Teacher for the 2026-27 school year to support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong instructional practices, flexibility, and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with students, staff, and families. This role is essential in ensuring all students have access to meaningful, inclusive educational experiences.

District: Glenwood City Middle-High School

License: DPI Special Education Cross Categorical license (1801) or substitute permit eligibility

Responsibilities

  • Provide specially designed instruction aligned to students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and student success

  • Use data to inform instruction and adjust interventions as needed

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress monitoring and IEP paperwork

  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs

  • Lead IEP meetings and team collaboration

  • Support positive behavioral interventions and social-emotional development

Qualifications:

  • Valid Wisconsin teaching license in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality per district policy and FERPA requirements

  • Knowledge of special education law and IEP development

  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum for diverse learners

  • Experience with progress monitoring tools and data-driven instruction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies

  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred
