POSITION: The School District of South Milwaukee is seeking a middle school library assistant.
PURPOSE: The ideal candidate will build strong, positive relationships with all in the school community, and maintain a warm and welcoming environment in the library. The role is divided into three main areas: maintaining the library (checking out books, shelving books, setting up displays, etc), managing student Chromebooks (check devices in and out to students, troubleshoot issues, etc.) and managing staff absences (tracking absences in the dedicated software program, assigning substitute teachers to open positions, etc.).
EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school including or supplemented by training in business office management, accounting, banking, human resources or related field and several years of increasingly responsible experience. Direct experience working in a library, a school, or with middle school students is appreciated.
THE DISTRICT: The School District of South Milwaukee has a strong Moral Imperative: We act with a relentless commitment to remove barriers and care for all students so they feel accepted and will learn without exception.
As part of our Moral Imperative, we believe in the #SMWay, focusing on respect, responsibility, honesty, perseverance and kindness for all. Our priorities as a district are EQUITY (focusing on addressing the needs of all of our students), DATA LITERACY (using strong data and analysis to inform our practices), and CULTURE (developing strong and caring relationships with staff and students).
We believe that if you can answer "yes" to the four questions below, you are exactly the type of professional we want to work with!
Are you a relationship builder who believes in engaging and welcoming all students, families and staff to the school?
Do you have exceptional human relations skills with ability to handle tense, sometimes confidential situations, with sensitivity and tact?
Are you always looking for ways to improve, have excellent attention to detail, and have the office and technical skills necessary to create, maintain, and organize databases and the physical office space?
Do you have a positive and professional attitude? Are you honest, trustworthy, kind, motivated and a person of integrity?
Thank you for your interest in South Milwaukee Schools. We encourage you to apply to be part of our community of learners.
